Hipster

Hipster is a slang term that first appeared in the 1940s, and was revived in the 1990s and 2000s often to describe types of young, recently-settled urban middle class adults and older teenagers with interests in non-mainstream fashion and culture, particularly alternative music, indie rock ...

While this is an “official” definition, we prefer:

Hipster Doofus

1. Trendy, "cool guy" that, while certainly trendy, isn't all that cool. Easily distinguished by his semi-cool wardrobe worn badly after watching one too many episodes of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy".

2. Someone who has taken being hip and unique to an extreme and therefore worn the "cool" out of the hip.

3. What Jerry called Kramer on the show Seinfeld.

"He is such a hipster doofus, and has not changed at all since college. Do you think he knows he is a hipster doofus?"

Hipsters according to: Time Magazine.

"Hipsters are the friends who sneer when you cop to liking Coldplay. They're the people who wear t-shirts silk-screened with quotes from movies you've never heard of and the only ones in America who still think Pabst Blue Ribbon is a good beer. They sport cowboy hats and berets and think Kanye West stole their sunglasses. Everything about them is exactingly constructed to give off the vibe that they just don't care."
